"I Got You Babe" is a 1965 number-one hit single by American rock music duo Sonny & Cher.

Covered in 1985 by UB40 (with Chrissie Hynde) from the album Baggariddim (also appearing on The Pretenders' 1987 album The Singles). It reached #1 on the UK charts in August 1985.

Baggariddim is an album by UB40, released in 1985. Most of the tracks are reworkings of previous UB40 recordings that originally appeared on Labour of Love and Geffery Morgan, here showcasing guest singers and "toasters" on vocals. In the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium this album was released in a gatefold sleeve containing an additional 3-track 12" EP. This album features two UK hits, "I Got You Babe", a duet with Chrissie Hynde that reached #1 in the UK and the #3 follow-up "Don't Break My Heart", which was the 'B-side' of "I Got You Babe" ("Theme from Labour of Love") with vocals added

The Singles is The Pretenders' 1987 compilation album and features all the band's UK single hits to that date, as well as including "I Got You Babe" which Hynde had performed with UB40 in 1985.

UB40 are a British reggae band formed in 1978 in Birmingham. The band has placed more than 50 singles on the UK charts, and has also achieved considerable international success. Their #1 hits (which are all covers) include "Red Red Wine" (#1 US/UK/Canada/NZ/Netherlands), "Can't Help Falling in Love" (#1 US/UK/Australia/Sweden/Netherlands), and "I Got You Babe" (#1 UK/Netherlands).
