Read by Frank Muller
Format: MP3
Bitrate: 128 Kbps
CD rip in Stereo using Noise Reduction on each disc, followed by volume normalization and cleaning of low and high frequency muffling and sharpness.
This is one of my favorite by Frank Muller. There are so many references and allusions to Bogart’s classic films that this book is to Classic Film lovers what Armada and Ready Player One are to those of us who grew up in the 80s/90s :) I like Richard Ferrone alot (RIP), he wasnt an actor at all but had a cool voice, but Frank should have done this whole series. It’s a very cool listen with a large variety of unique voices created by Frank.
While robbing an apartment, Bernie Rhodenbarr, the New York bookseller and burglar, stumbles on the trail of a treasure belonging to the deposed monarch of an Eastern European country. Problem is, others are after it too. By the author of The Burglar Who Traded Ted Williams.
Bookseller Bernie Rhodenbarr’s in loveâwith an exotic Eastern European beauty who shares his obsession with Humphrey Bogart movies. He’s in heaven, munching popcorn with his new amour every night at a Bogart Film Festivalâuntil their Casablanca -esque idyll is cut short by his other secret passion: burglary . When he’s hired to pilfer a portfolio of valuable documents from a Park Avenue apartment, Bernie can hardly refuse. But the occupant’s early return forces Bernie to flee empty-handedâand he soon finds himself implicated in a murder. Before you can say “who stole the strawberries?” he’s hunting for a killer, up to his neck in the outrageous intrigues of a tiny Balkan nation . . . and menaced by more sinister fat men and unsavory toadies than the great Bogie himself butted heads with in pursuit of that darn bird!
