I downloaded an MPG source video that appears to have been captured from a French television broadcast, and obtained English subtitles from opensubtitles.org. Then I...
- Used a linear video editor to clean up the film at:
11:31 - sex scene behind glass (20 seconds)
19:16 - gay relationship (50 seconds)
20:04 - talk of thongs and swinging (33 seconds)
22:40 - gay guys interaction (27 seconds)
24:12 - gay boyfriend talking with author (17 seconds)
35:10 - gay talk (29 seconds)
- Added subtitled translation to much of the Chiquita Madame song at 1:12:40
- Used Subtitle Edit (by Nikolaj Lynge Olsson) to find and fix all flagged issues
- Added 0.7 second to each subtitle (where possible) to allow more time to read them
- "Softened" all subtitled profanity (bastard --> jerk, damn --> darn, bitch --> wench etc.)
- Watched the film and italicized music lyrics, characters' thoughts, and off-screen dialogue; also color-coded some subtitles for clarity as appropriate, using salmon colors for written/printed material
- Used Handbrake to create the new MKV file, adding my subtitle file as soft captions
