Gilberto Passos Gil Moreira, better known as Gilberto Gil GCIH (Salvador, June 26, 1942), is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, music producer and politician, known for his contribution to Brazilian music and for winning American Grammys awards. , Latin Grammy Awarded by the French Government with the National Order of Merit (1997).

Gil was also UN ambassador for agriculture and food and Minister of Culture of Brazil (2003–2008). In more than fifty albums released, he incorporates the eclectic range of his influences, including rock, typically Brazilian genres, African music and reggae, for example.
