João do Santo Cristo (Fabrício Boliveira) leaves Salvador, Bahia, in search for a better life and goes to Brasília. There, he meets Maria Lúcia (Isis Valverde), whom he falls in love with and wishes to build a better future. However, his involvement with drug trafficking may ruin everything, as his main competitor, Jeremias (Felipe Abib), becomes his enemy.
